Hell to pay!

This work deals with the fatwa placed on Salman Rushdie by the Ayatollah Khomeini of Iran in 1989 for the publication of ‘The Satanic Verses’ which was said to be blasphemous against the prophet Mohammed.  The Ayatollah called on all muslims to kill Rushdie and so he went into protected hiding for some time.  Despite the threat,  the fatwa did more to champion Rushdie's career than stunt it as many people bought the book to see what all the fuss was about.  Thirty years later Rushdie still remains at large!
